Putting the “O” in Obama: Designing the Obama’08 Logo
This is a really great interview with Sol Sender of the eponymous Chicago-based design firm who was responsible for the Obama08 logo. This was a very design-focused campaign and I think that it had clarifying effect on a lot of the messaging in the campaign. Some great insights here about how that came together. THe Obama campaign absolutely destroyed the McCain camp when it came to “brand”. It’s amazing how that translates into strength for the candidate. Loved the zoom outs of all the older campaign brands. How bland they all are.
