A Fond Farewell

There’s been a lot of good news at IdentityMine in the last couple of weeks: Laurent decided to join the team; we found out about a prominent ranking with Inc. magazine; and there’s been a stream of internal good news.  It’s been a really great month.

All that has made a hard decision even harder for me, but I’ve decided to leave IdentityMine and embark down my own path.

I know.  What am I doing?  IdentityMine has been amazing.  It’s a great company where I’ve learned a lot and made life long fiends.  I’ll really miss it.

On the other hand, venturing out on my own has been a life long ambition.  So right now, I’m mostly just excited about a big challenge and a bet I’ve always wanted to make.  Even though it’s not an easy decision, hopefully I’ve made a good one.

In the meantime, all my best to everyone at IdentityMine.  Any good I do on my own is, in no small way, a reflection of all of you.

Robby….thanks for the kind words about IdentityMine and we all wish you the best of luck. Welcome to the newly created club FOIM (Friends of IdentityMine).

Unless you’ve decided to become some sort of biologist, race car driver or medical technician I’m sure our paths will cross quite often.

Best of luck and keep us updated!

Waiiiiiiiiiiit I join and you leave? How am I supposed to take that? :)

And more importantly, how could I miss that! Can’t wait to finish that book, it’s REALLY taking me too much time…

Good luck on your own Robby.

Dang, Robby…

I was counting on you and Laurent being inside the wall there and maybe at some point I could squeeze through a crack… not sure Laruent can pull me through alone :)

I can’t wait to see what trumps IM… keep up the great blog posts!

Robby,

I have only recently begun reading your posts via this site.
Honestly, I truly only know you through your work and writing.
These are the first words I have even written to you.

All I can say is:
Pursue your dreams, follow your heart,
and remain the humble soul that I have come to know through your weblog.

Best Wishes on Your Own,
Richard

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I guess I wasn’t clear in the post, but I will DEFINITELY keep blogging and will still be doing WPF and Silverlight work (but now as a freelancer). The online home of my freelance business will be http://pixellab.cc (the business I setup is called Pixel Lab). There’s nothing there yet, but I’ll let you know when it goes live.

Again, thanks for the well wishes and optimistic thoughts. I’ll keep you posted!

You know you’re going to miss traveling the globe with me. Oh the fun… Buying me lunch when I forget to bring the local currency, watching the boss walk back to coach when you get free first class upgrades, deep conversations about mushrooms and the American addition to corn based products. You’ll be back. ;-)

Ganbarre! If you had any help with APAC biz or Japanese things, anytime, please ping me.

[...] must have been a little vague about future plans in my last post because I’ve had a couple of emails asking about whether I’ll still be blogging.  [...]

Didn’t know you well, Robby, but I know of your prowess. Definitely a loss for Identity Mine. Best of luck in the future!
